Everybody needs to look at this in another light - Drew's out there scouring the bars looking for a young woman he can talk sweet to and charm the pants off her. She's so taken by his charm and wit and of course believes him to be innocent of all wrong doings, he buys her things, takes her out to nice places for dinner, is super nice to her kids, she thinks he's the "perfect man/father".
