CHICAGO (STNG) -- A man was shot as he “threw” gang signs while driving a stolen van early Tuesday in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
At 2:44 a.m., the motorist was driving a stolen van near the intersection of West 66th Street and South Kedzie Avenue when he “threw” gang signs to at least one person standing outside on the street, police said.
One of the people he was signaling to shot him, leaving him with “superficial’’ gunshot wounds. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was in fair condition, according to police.
When he is released from the hospital, officers from the Chicago Lawn District will be seeking him in connection with the stolen van, police said.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating the shooting.
