Driver 'Critical' After Plowing Into Cement Planter



CHICAGO -- The driver of car which struck a cement flower planter on the South Side early New Year's Day in the Auburn Gresham neighborhoo is  in "critical" condition

At 1:30 a.m., the man was driving in the 8900 block of South Halsted Street when he hit a cement planter in the middle of Halsted Street, according to police.

He hit his head on the windshield and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "critical" condition, police said.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
