(OAK PARK, Ill.) Police are searching for a man who shot an armed robber after the man refused to give up his leather coat Sunday night at an Oak Park gas station.
The shooting happened about 11 p.m. at a gas station at North and Hayes avenues, in the northeast corner of Oak Park, according to Village of Oak Park Communications Director David Powers.
A man was putting gas in his car when he was approached by two other men who demanded his leather coat. The man in the coat refused, took out a handgun and shot one of the attempted robbers once in the mouth and once in his side before fleeing the scene, Powers said.
The injured man was taken to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park for treatment of his gunshot wounds but was later transferred to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. He had apparently lost several teeth and suffered injury to his tongue, Powers said. It was believed that his injuries were not life-threatening.
Police recovered a handgun from the scene but were unclear Monday morning whether the gun matched the one used in the shooting.
Two other men, believed to have been associated with the would-be robbers, were sitting in a nearby car during the shooting.
All four men were being questioned by police, Powers said.
No one has been charged in shooting as of Monday afternoon.

let me guess...
For the CRIME of defending himself he'll be arrested ...right??? Illinois has the DUMBEST gun laws in the nation. It's a known and proven fact that the crime rate in states where "conceal and carry" is allowed is low. Guess why? Because they're taking a chnce on getting their head blown off if they try to rob someone! In Illinois the gun laws leave guns in the hands of the criminals and leave the honest citizens defenseless. But don't worry . When seconds count the police are just minutes away!!! Daley and his cronies arn't really backing gun control for YOUR safety...it's for THEIRS!!!!

Good for him!
I'd like to see thugs get shot by their intended victims more often!

better to be judged by twelve than carried by six

Waste of time and money
I can't believe the OP cops are bothering to look for this guy unless they want to give him a medal. I don't think that's too likely.

Time to legalize conceal carry in Oak Park.....
I am a resident of Oak Park and the people living there is one of the most liberial out there. I bet this person is not a resident of this "fine" community. Next time take both them out and I will donate money for his defense fund and take him out for drinks. A grateful law and order Oak Parker.

Too bad
I hope they don't find the guy who had to defend himself. It's bad enough the robbers put him in that situation. Now the law will victimize him even more.
A witness at Drew Peterson's hearsay hearing contends he was asked to kill the former Bolingbrook police sergeant's third wife but he turned the offer down.
