CHICAGO (CBS 2/WBBM) ― Chicago radio legend Steve Dahl has left from JACK-FM radio after just over a year.
An on-air announcer at the station, WJMK-FM 104.3, said Friday morning that Dahl had made his "final goodbye."
Dahl joined the CBS station in November of last year, after several years at the former WCKG-FM 105.9, which he left when it changed formats and became WCFS.
Dahl, 54, has been a Chicago radio personality for more than 30 years.
His contract extends to mid-2011 and is worth almost $3 million per year, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Last month, CBS dropped WBBM-FM morning men Eddie Volkman and Joe Bohannon.
Dahl became a local legend as his stint with Gary Meier in the late 1970s through the early 1990s. One of his most famous stunts came in 1979, when he invited listeners to bring their disco records to be destroyed at a White Sox game. After Dahl blew up the records, fans stormed the field and a game had to be called off.
Both JACK-FM and WBBM-AM are CBS radio stations.
