Dec. 4: Chilly Workout

THURSDAY UPDATE
An outdoor practice in sub 20-degree temperatures prepared the Bears for similar conditions Sunday at Soldier Field against visiting Jacksonville.

For the second day in a row, the Bears worked without defensive end Adewale Ogunleye (shoulder) and defensive tackle Anthony Adam s(foot).  Much is expected from Adams.  He is expected to get significant snaps at nose tackle for the injured Dusty Dvoracek(torn biceps).

Rookie Marcus Harrison is more of a three-technique defensive tackle like starter Tommie Harris, but is needed in the rotation at the position.

In a rare move, head coach Lovie Smith rested starters Lance Briggs, Mike Brown, Tommie Harris, and Olin Kreutz for a second consecutive day.

With two games in five days coming up between Sunday (Jaguars) and Thursday (Saints), it is a smart move in an effort to keep the veterans fresh. Linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer was limited with a sore Achilles.

QUESTION MARKS
This is a difficult team to pin down.  They are inconsistent on both sides of the ball, not only week-to-week, but quarter-to-quarter.

"It's Jekyll-and-Hyde right now," said tight end Desmond Clark. "Up and down, all over the board. We've got a couple of personalities I guess. We have a great team on some weeks and then we have a very mediocre team on some weeks."

And the evidence is in the 6-and-6 record.

That frustrating inconsistency makes it difficult to define this edition of the Bears and what its identity will be this month
