Dec. 2: Let's Look Ahead

TOUGH TO FORGET
That goal-line stand the Vikings used to shut down the Bears and turn momentum Sunday is still a topic of discussion. Offensive coordinator Ron Turner is still thinking about it and certainly being asked about the four snaps.

“If you don’t get in, it’s not the right calls, “said Turner. If you get in, it doesn’t mean it necessarily was a great call. You got in. Any play that doesn’t work you always are looking back saying, ‘God what could I have done different to help this team’ and I’m sure the players look at it the same way and we are no different. We didn’t get in, so I have to do a better job.”

Every player on offense must do a better job because too many mistakes have been made over the past six weeks. They are hurting themselves with drive-stopping error, everything from dropped passes, penalties, turnovers, and poor execution. Those mistakes hurt confidence and they hurt rhythm.

Time is running out.

BLACK AND BLUE
Nine Bears missed practice. Anthony Adams (foot), Adewale Ogunleye (shoulder), Hunter Hillnemeyer (Achilles) are sporting new bumps and bruises. Jacksonville’s starting cornerback Rashean Mathis missed with a knee injury.

HIGH PRAISE
Bears rookie runner Matt Forte’ still leads the NFL in total touches. He is fifth in rushing and one of five backswith more than  1000 yards. He has scored10 touchdowns, leads all backs in catches and is third in the league in first downs.

“I don’t want to get carried away, but I see some Marcus Alle-type vision and balance with him, “ said Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio. “He’s a taller guy. He runs with good pad level. I think he’s a good running back.”
