Eddie & JoBo Out At B96 Radio

CHICAGO (CBS) ― The veteran morning team of Eddie and JoBo are out on WBBM-FM B96 radio, 20 years after they began at the Top 40 music station.

Officials at B96 confirmed to CBS 2 that Ed Volkman and Joe Bohannon were let go from the station on Friday, and their midday host J Niice through the end of the year. A new morning team will debut in January, B96 officials confirmed.

B96 officials would not release information about why Eddie & JoBo were let go.

Eddie & JoBo were first teamed together at B96 in 1988, but they were let go in late 1994 after former WMAQ-TV news anchor Joan Esposito sued Bohannon for comments about the death of Esposito's husband and claimed she had been impregnated by a member of the Chicago Bulls.

The team was rehired in late 1996 after short runs with two other morning teams.

Ed Volkman is the son of Harry Volkman, a longtime Chicago meteorologist who spent much of his career with CBS 2. Eddie and JoBo had most recently been hosting their show with co-host Erica Cobb.

As of early Friday afternoon, Eddie and JoBo's names had already been removed from the on-air listing at B96's Web site.

Both B96 and CBS 2 are owned by CBS Corporation.
