Drew In Court

JOLIET, (AP) -- A judge says prosecutors must give defense attorneys documents they compiled leading up to Drew Peterson's arrest on felony gun charges.

The former Bolingbrook police sergeant suspected in his wife's disappearance was in court Thursday on the charges, which are unrelated to the disappearance case.

Peterson allegedly owned an assault rifle with a barrel shorter than allowed by state law. He hasn't been charged in the 2007 disappearance of Stacy Peterson.

Judge Richard Schoenstedt didn't specify what the documents contain.

Peterson attorney Joel Brodsky alleges authorities are vindictively prosecuting Peterson because he was successful in winning court orders they'd fought. One of those compelled authorities to give Peterson's guns to his adult son.

Prosecutors dispute Brodsky's contention.
