Survivor Of Lane Bryant Murders Taken Off Payroll

CHICAGO (WBBM)  -- COMMENT ON THIS STORY

TINLEY PARK, Ill. (WBBM)
- WBBM has learned the only person to survive the massacre last February inside a Tinley Park Lane Bryant store--the assistant manager there--was removed from the Lane Bryant payroll as she was struggling to recover.

WBBM's Steve Miller reports:

It is hard to imagine the horrors she witnessed, the assistant manager of that store.  Five women shot and killed.  She, too, was shot - but survived. WBBM is not using the name of that young woman.

Some months ago, she was taken off the Lane Bryant payroll.

Tinley Park Police Chief Mike O'Connell says he brought the issue up with Lane Bryant officials two months ago.

And now O'Connell says there's an update: He's been told by Lane Bryant officials that the woman will be put back on the payroll December 1.

"We believe that the victim has been through, certainly, a traumatic experience, and we try to reinforce with her and her family that we are there for support.  We're there for resources."

A spokeswoman for Lane Bryant's parent company would neither confirm nor deny the woman's employment status.

The killer remains at large. O'Connell says investigators are following up on 5,400 tips.

A $100,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the killer.
