(WBBM) - Could Drew Peterson be ready to divorce his fourth wife Stacy, who's been missing for just over a year now?
Peterson appears to be exploring his options.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports:
Drew Peterson may be ready to become an eligible bachelor again.
One week ago, Peterson met with high-profile divorce lawyer Jeffery Leving, who specializes in fathers' rights.
"His attorney brought him to my office for a consultation, and I met with both of them and provided a legal consultation last Tuesday," Leving told Newsradio 780.
Attorney Leving says one spouse may divorce another and claim desertion if the other spouse goes missing for one year.
Stacy Peterson has been missing now just over a year.
Drew Peterson has been declared a suspect in her disappearance.
As for any divorce plans Peterson may have, Leving told Newsradio 780 he hasn't filed anything, and he says, "There's a lot of issues that have to be resolved, and I guess we'll see where it goes."

So this sets the stage. Anyone who wants to get rid of a spouse they can kill them, make sure they are not found. Wait a year, and then they file for divorce claiming desertion and are free. Wow, that's our good old justice system for ya.

I bet if he wasn't a policeman this guy would be in jail already. It's shameful for all of the hardworking non-wife killer police that do a good job. Some cops just know that they are above the law. Justice will prevail. This case is very high profile,and I doubt he has OJ's money!

Thoughts
Drew will move on to some dumb young woman who will think it's sexy to be with a "celebrity". He won't trip up this time though...by telling her what he did. Unfortuately he told Stacy what he did to his 3rd wife. And poor Stacy had to pay for his crime. It is my hope that Drew is rejected by every single woman on the planet. By my first hope is that he is arrested and found guilty of 2 counts of 1st degree murder...and he can cohort with his cellmates for the rest of his life. Not very likely to happen though.

innocent until proven guilty is the way it works. you guys sound like a lynch mob. what if it does turn out that she left are we going to lynch her. remember, stacy's mom left her family without any clue to where she went. I'm not for him or against him, but some of the best investigators haven't found anything, maybe there is some validity to what he's saying, i dont know. . just throwing it out there. .

"Presumption of innocense" has not been violated for Drew Peterson. His personal freedom has not been infringed, nor has he recieved the death penalty in spite of a widely held belief in the court of public opinion that he has murdered his last 2 wives. "Presumption of innocense" is a legal term restricted to penalties relating to a court of law. ... Drew Peterson is not entitled to "Presumption of innocense" in the court of public opinion. The expression of personal opinion that Drew Peterson is guilty, is however protected by the Founding Fathers through Fisrt Ammendments Rights concerning the expression of Free Speech.

i wonder who would be mandated to represent Stacy's interests in a situation like this. ....Maybe the divorce lawyer that Stacy consulted twice in the 5 days before she "disappeared" ? ....Harry Smith, the one who also represented Kathleen Savio. The one who witnessed Kathleen's Order of Protection against Drew.
