Nov. 14:

HOT HARRIS
Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris reprimanded the media for its coverage of the team. In particular, he was fumed at a report that he claims put words in his mouth.

“I didn’t point any fingers at my teammates,” Harris said. “I have to come here and hear that.”

“I don’t care if you talk about my play, don’t put words in my mouth,” Harris said. “I get paid to be criticized. I get paid to get ridiculed…just don’t put words in my mouth. If you hear me say something, state what I said. Don’t put words in my mouth…let’s all be professional and don’t put words in my mouth.”

“A lot of people don’t know what they are talking about. A lot of guys put words in my mouth saying that I was pointing fingers at my teammates. I would never do anything like that. I just told ‘em I wasn’t Superman, that’s what I told the Sun-Times.”

“You think that a lot of the fans are saying a lot of negative stuff, but it’s really just the media. That’s what you guys have to do. That’s your job. Not everybody in the media, just certain guys. And they know who they are. I just pray for you guys and hope that you can sleep at night.”

Harris did allow that yes the defense as a unit is not performing up to the 2005 and 2006 versions.

“We do20need to step it up.”
