EVANSTON--A Northwestern University student was battered outside her home Wednesday night.
A female student at the university was entering her residence in the 1700 block of Hinman Avenue about 6 p.m. when a man grabbed her from behind and put his hand over her mouth, according to an alert on Northwestern's web site.
The woman screamed and the man fled southbound in an alley west of Hinman Avenue, the alert said. The woman was not injured and nothing was stolen.
The man was wearing a white jacket, gloves and was about 5-foot-10 with a medium build, the alert said.
The university urged students and community members to be alert while traveling on or off campus, "especially at night."
