Police Search For Missing Teen

CHICAGO (STNG) - A Chicago real estate investor has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of a 15-year-old girl missing since she left home for school on Monday morning.

WBBM's Bernie Tafoya reports.
Tisha Muentes left her home on the 5000 block of West Wolfram Street about 7 a.m. Monday, according to police.

She was on her way to Lincoln Park High School at 2001 N. Orchard St. on a CTA bus, but never made it to school, according to a missing person alert from Grand Central Area detectives.

Family members and friends were out Tuesday night in the Lincoln Park neighborhood handing out flyers, posting flyers on street lights and asking passersby to look out for her.

Muentes is the daughter of a Chicago firefighter and many firefighters have also joined the effort to find her. Ald. Vi Daley announced Wednesday that real estate investor Fred Latsko, a Near North Side resident, has guaranteed a $10,000 reward for information that leads to Tisha being found.

"Fred Latsko has agreed to provide the guarantee in the hopes that Ms. Muentes can be found safely as quickly as possible," a release from the alderman's office said. "Ald. Daley asked Mr. Latsko to assist in this effort because he has made similar efforts in the past," according to the release.

Muentes is a sophomore and had called a friend and classmate at 7:30 a.m. Monday, telling her she was getting off the bus, according to a message on the school’s Web site. According to the school, her attendance records indicated she was not in any of her classes Monday.

The Web site said she was last seen getting off the bus near Armitage and Halsted at 7:20 a.m. and her father indicated she was last seen walking down Dickens towards the school, according to the site.

Muentes is 5 feet and 105 pounds with brown eyes, wavy black hair and an olive complexion.  She was wearing a light brown furry coat, beige scarf, beige gloves and jeans, with her hair tied in a bun, according to the site.

Anyone with information should contact Grand Central Area detectives at (312) 746-8365 or Ald. Daley's office at (773) 327-9111.
