Family Dog Tries His Paw In Show Business

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. (WBBM)  -- A Palos Heights family wants to get their dog's picture on a box of Milk Bone, so they're asking people to log on to the dog treat website and vote so Rio won't be an underdog.  VOTE FOR RIO

The dog's name is Rio, and he's a six-year-old Chesapeake Bay retriever.

Tony Pokrajac of Palos Heights says he and his family got Rio a couple of years ago as a rescue.

"What they told us was the previous owners went on vacation."

And decided to give up Rio before they left.

Pokrajac says his family has given Rio a good home - and now they want his photo to appear on a box of Milk Bone, which is sponsoring the contest.

Oh and the dog that gets picked for the box also gets a contract for promotional appearances - worth 100-thousand dollars.

"He likes people, and when we have parties, he's a big ham.  I think he could deal with it."
