The republican business owner has run for office six times and lost five hard fought races and in a majority of those races he came in second.
But this last election to replace retired House Speaker Dennis Hastert in the 14th Congressional district may have been his last.
He lost on Election Day to Democrat Bill Foster who also defeated him in a special primary in March. According to the Tribune, Oberweis has spent more than 9 million dollars seeking elected office since his first bid for U-S Senate in 2002.
A spokesman says Oberweis currently has no plan to run for office.
