Oct. 29: Hester Puts Pressure on Himself

DEVIN WANTS SEVEN
Living up to the billing as the game’s finest return man ever . . . is no simple task for Devin Hester.

"I kind of put all the pressure on myself," Hester said. "It is kinda my fault that the return game is ... it's not the way it is (was)... you know I put all the pressure on me because at the end of the day I am the one with the ball in my hands...I've got to be the one to step up...I kind of take some of the blame for it."

Hester thinks that because he returned 11 kicks for touchdowns in his first two seasons, that he should return one every week. It doesn't work that way.  Obviously, that is not realistic. His last one came in week 17 last season against the Saints.

Field position is still outstanding because of Hesters' presence. The Bears are fourth in the league in average starting field position.

HUNTER'S THUMB

After thumb surgery last week, starting linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer was limited in practice Wednesday.  Head coach Lovie Smith is optimistic Hillenmeyer could play with his right hand wrapped. Nick Roach and or Jamar Williams would replace Hillenmeyer if he’s unable to go against the Lions.

OTHER INJURIES
Receiver Marty Booker (knee), Brandon Lloyd (knee), safety Danieal Manning (hamstring), corners Charles Tillman (shoulder), and Nathan Vasher (wrist) all practiced, but were limited. Defensive tackle Tommie Harris (knee) was held out.
