GLENVIEW, Ill. (STNG) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security will oversee more than 800 emergency personnel participating in an all-day training exercise that will test their readiness during natural disasters or terrorist attacks in north suburban Glenview Wednesday.
The exercise for the first-responders -- firefighters, paramedics and police -- was to take place beginning at 8 a.m. on Patriot Boulevard, south of Willow Road, according to a Glenview police dispatcher.
The exercise will test the ability of federal, state and local first responders to react appropriately during large-scale incidents ranging from natural disasters to terrorist attacks, according to the dispatcher.
Glenview residents may notice military helicopters, HUMVEES, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles heading for the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) on Patriot Boulevard while the training goes on, according to a news release from the Glenview Police Department.
