Brawl Outside Lincoln Park High Leaves Boy Hurt

CHICAGO -- A boy was punched in the mouth during a Friday fight outside a North Side high school in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

About 8:30 a.m. a group of eight boys – all students -- were engaged in a fight outside Lincoln Park High at 2001 N. Orchard St., according to Chicago Public Schools spokesman Frank Shuftan.

One boy who has braces on his teeth suffered a “bloody mouth’’ after he was apparently punched during the fight, according to Shuftan.

Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado said an ambulance was sent to the scene at 9:20 a.m., but there was no one transported to a hospital.

School security officers, with the assistance of two Chicago Police officers stationed at the school, broke up the fight, which occurred after classes had started at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Shuftan said.

Shuftan said he did not know whether anyone had been arrested or what the fight was about.

Shuftan did not know what year in school the boys are or what, if any disciplinary action would be taken for their alleged actions.
