CREST HILL-- A southern Illinois man was fatally shot while breaking into a home.
The 34-year-old man, whose name is not being released pending family notification, was reportedly breaking into a home Wednesday evening when the elderly resident shot him at least twice.
The suspect was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Joliet, where he was declared dead.
Authorities are investigating.
