CHICAGO (STNG) -- Ford will cut 792 jobs at its Southeast Side assembly plant when it drops to one shift early next month, according to a filing with the state. Separately, two suppliers to Ford told state officials they'll pare 168 jobs from their payrolls.
Previously, Ford said 600 part-time positions would be eliminated when it cuts one shift at the factory at 12600 S. Torrence Ave. The automaker also had said the move would result in a loss of full-time jobs, but hadn't been more specific.
The plant, Ford's oldest, has 2,174 hourly and 137 salaried employees, according to the company.
Ford disclosed the layoffs, which will begin Nov. 3, in a filing released Monday.
Two Ford suppliers near the assembly plant also notified the state about layoffs.
JCIM Interiors Manufacturing said it will trim 100 positions early next month.
Syncreon, which provides logistics services to the plant, said it will cut 68 jobs in late November.
Ford's Chicago plant builds the Taurus and Taurus X, the Mercury Sable and the Lincoln MKS.
