A 16-year-old Indiana driver diedin an automobile crash in northwest Indiana, authorities said.
Kelly Mercaldo, 16, of Valparaiso, Ind., was involved in the Morgan Township wreck, pronounced dead at 12:48 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
An autopsy determined Mercaldo died of multiple injuries from an automobile striking a fixed object . The death is ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.
Portage police are investigating.
