Two men are injured, one critically, after a Sunday afternoon shooting near Douglass Park in the West Side’s Lawndale neighborhood.
The victims were shot in the 1500 block of South Christiana Ave. about 4:30 p.m.
A 24-year-old is in “critical” condition in Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and a 21-year-old is in “good” condition at Mount Sinai with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating. Police have no suspects and no clues
•A PEDESTRIAN WAS SHOT in the ankle while walking down a South Side street Saturday night.
The shooting occurred at 7:44 p.m. in the 100 block of West 109th Place, according to police News Affairs.
A 22-year-old man was walking down the street when he passed two men on the sidewalk, police said. The man told police he heard shots and realized he had been shot in the ankle.
The victim is Roseland Community Hospital in “good” condition, police said. They have no suspects and no motives. Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
•LARRY MITCHELL IS DEAD. Police are investigating the death of the 60-year-old West Side man, found with apparent head injuries early Saturday in his home.
Mitchell, of West Arthington St., was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 1:56 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Police responded to the 4000 block of West Arthington about 1:30 a.m. Harrison Area detectives are investigating. Police have no suspects and no clues. An autopsy is scheduled.
• BRIAN McDONALD, 22, is dead, shot in the head at 4945 W. Ferdinand St., the Cook County Medical Examiner office said.
MdConald, of 1656 N. Monitor Ave., was pronounced dead on the scene, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating. There are no suspects and no clues.
•GREGORY JONES IS DEAD, shot during a drive-by shooting near his home in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side Saturday morning.
About 5:30 a.m., the 32-year-old was shot in the stomach at 928 N. Central Park Ave., police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
Jones, of 920 N. Central Park Ave., was pronounced deal at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 6:24 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner said. He was standing next to his vehicle someone in a passing vehicle shot at him.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating. No one is in custody. A description of the vehicle involved has not been released. An autopsy is pending.
•A TEEN WAS SHOT and killed late Friday night after he and a group of others got into a gunfight outside a party on the South Side in the Roseland neighborhood.
The teen, identified as Shaun Brown by the Cook County Medical Examiner, was attending an “out-of-control” party at the Keep Poppin’ Smoothie and Popcorn Shop, 11138 S. Halsted St., when an argument ensued. Dozens of partygoers spilled out into the shop’s parking lot where the quarrel continued, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
The victim ran across Halsted Street and was chased by several others. An exchange of gunfire occurred. Brown was shot in the chest and collapsed at 733 W. 112th St., Kubiak said.
Brown, of 11157 S. Union Ave. was pronounced dead at Roseland Community Hospital at 12:50 a.m., the medical examiner said.
No one else was injured.
The victim’s weapon was recovered on the scene. Calumet Area detectives are investigating. No one is in custody.
• A DRIVE-BY Left six people shot Friday night on the West Side in the Austin neighborhood.
The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Pine Avenue. All victims are men.
A 41-year-old was shot in the left leg in Mount Sinai Hospital, a 27-year-old shot in the back is in Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in “serious” condition; a 26-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds is in John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in “serious” condition; a 27-year-old and 26-year-old are in Loretto Hospital with a graze wounds. A 25-year-old was treated for his gunshot wound on the scene.
Details about the shooting remain unclea. Police had earlier said referred to the Jones shooting in the 300 block of North Central Avenue.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
•POLICE IN HAMMOND are investigating the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in his home.
Police responded to a shooting at 539 E. Gostlin St. in Hammond, at 11:24 p.m., according to a Hammond police detective.
Arthur Trevino was initially taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond and was later airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, the detective said.
Trevino was pronounced dead at Christ Hospital at 2:41 a.m., according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Police have no suspects and no motive. The Autopsy shows he died from multiple wounds
•A PEDESTRIAN in the South Side Princeton Park neighborhood late Friday was shot multiple times by a gunman who said something to him before opening fire.
The shooting happened about 11:10 p.m. on the 200 block of West 96th Street, according to police.
The 27-year-old victim said the shooter ran off, according to a report from the police First Deputy Superintendent's office said. The victim is in Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, with multiple gunshot wounds in "stable" condition.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
• A 19-year-old man was shot in the hand Friday night in the Austin neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Lockwood Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks.
The victim is in West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park in “good” condition, Banks said. Police are trying to determine the exact location of the shooting. They have neither a motive nor s suspect. Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
