Not Registered To Vote? Better Hurry Up

CHICAGO (WBBM) - If you aren’t registered to vote for the upcoming presidential election, you have less than a week to do so.

Cook County Clerk David Orr predicts a possible turnout on election day of 80 percent because of the interest in the presidential race.

He says voter registration closes on October 7 and if a voter isn’t sure he or she is registered or has moved, double check with the county clerk's office.

He says voter registration is up 8 percent over last year, so far.  The phone at his office have been busy fielding calls from people who want to know about how and where to register.

Orr also encourages voters to take advantage of early voting which in Illinois starts October 13 and goes to October 30. He says long lines are expected on election day.

And he says: prepare.  He says there are voter guides and a sample ballot online for people who want to know ahead of time who and what they are voting for.
