BEARS INJURIES
Injuries to four starters complicates the Bears preparation for the Lions.
Receiver Brandon Lloyd has a knee sprain. Starting corners Nathan Vasher(wrist) and Charles Tillman (shoulder) did not work. In addition, defensive tackle Tommie Harris did not practice because of lingering knee issues. Safety Kevin Payne was limited with a sore neck. Marty Booker did not work because of a sore knee.
HASS IS BACK
After shipping, all of his belongings back to his Oregon home two and a half weeks ago, receiver Mike Hass is back with the Bears' practice squad.
They need him for practice due to injuries and the recent departure of Mark Bradley. Hass had workouts with the Giants and the Seahawks, but no offers.
He is thrilled to be back on the roster in some form and earning a paycheck.
WOLFE HUNTING
One of the surprises in Sunday’s win over the Eagles was the four-tackle effort on special teams by running back Garrett Wolfe. The smallest person on the field threw his body around and made an impact.
It is about being a football player period. No matter he wants to get his touches on offense. It is an acquired taste.
Wolfe did not enjoy special teams last season, but changed his mindset.
Bear fans certainly remember how Neal Anderson performed on special teams buying time until he was the lead tailback. Adrian Peterson is the Bears all-time special team tackles leader.
FORTE
Lovie Smith called rookie running back Matt Forte’ the Bear' biggest threat offensively.
The every down back is proving to be the most valuable Bear period with everything he can do as a runner, receiver, and blocker.
Offensive coordinator Ron Turner has no concerns about the rookie work load Forte’ is getting. He leads the NFL in touches and attempts and on pace for over 400 for the season. There is plenty of evidence that even the best of backs eventually have trouble in their careers with that kind of workload.
The Chicago Bears have released former Pro Bowl cornerback Nathan Vasher, who had been plagued by injuries in recent years before he was moved to the safety position and demoted to a backup in 2009.
Due to a major snow storm expecting to pummel the east coast the Chicago Bears game against the Baltimore Ravens has been changed to a 3:15 P.M. C.T. kick off.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester says he's sure there will be plenty of changes next season after a third straight year out of the playoffs.
