2 Shot In Lincoln Park

CHICAGO (STNG)  -- Two men were in serious condition after being shot and a third was injured after running into a wall Thursday afternoon in the North Side's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

About 3:15 p.m., three unknown gunmen approached several men in the 1600 block of North Orchard Street and began shooting. A 21-year-old man was shot in the neck and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to police News Affairs.

It is not clear whether the shooters approached the victims on foot or in a vehicle, News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor said.

Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford confirmed that two shooting victims were transported to Illinois Masonic and Northwestern hospitals from 1653 N. Orchard St. He said both were in serious condition.

Police said the 21-year-old was in "stable" condition and the 24-year-old was in good condition.

A third person ran into a wall, possibly while trying to run away, and knocked the wind out of himself. He was taken to Lincoln Park Hospital in good condition, Langford said.

A Near North District police sergeant said two men were shot and a third was injured from a fall.

None of the shooters are in custody Thursday night, police said.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
