Arrested DUI Suspect Kicks Out Squad Car Window

BARTLETT-- Jacek Mika, arrested at  home as police investigated a hit-and-run involving a mailbox now faces a felony criminal property damage charge after police said he kicked out the window of a squad car.

Mika, 39, of 1907 Burton Drive, is charged him with one felony count of criminal damage to state-supported property, driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and illegal transportation of an alcoholic beverage.

Bartlett police were dispatched to Stanton Lane and Ariana Drive to investigate a hit-and-run accident involving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck that struck a mailbox. Police said they found the vehicle and the driver, Mika, at his residence, where he was placed under arrest.

Mika subsequently damaged a marked police vehicle by kicking out the rear passenger-side window after he was taken into custody, police said.

Mika was transported to the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows to await a bail bond hearing.
