Two Arrested in Wednesday Waukegan Gang Shooting

WAUKEGAN-- Steven Lopez, 18, and Terrell Teamer, 21, are in custody following a gang-related dispute that lead to one man being shot in the leg. Each is charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Teamer is also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Investigators said the shooting happened in the 500 block of May Street around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Lopez and Teamer approached a rival gang member and, in the middle of a dispute, Teamer shot the victim in the leg and fled, said Waukegan Police Cmdr. Wayne Walles.
The victim – whose name will not be released by officials -- was treated and released at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
It is believed that the shooting was in retaliation for a gang-related shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in the 700 block of Cummings Avenue. No one was injured in that shooting, authorities said.
Following tips from witnesses, police executed a search warrant at Teamer's residence in the 800 block of South King Drive and arrested both men.
While in the home, investigators recovered a sawed-off shotgun, a 22-caliber handgun and multiple rounds of ammunition.
Lopez and Teamer were in court Friday and are held in Lake County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
