Weekend Violence UPDATE: Parents Investigated in Death of 12-Year-Old

The Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the death Sunday night. Of 12-year-old Kevin Johnson.
Johnson, of the 3400 block of Beckwith Lane in Crete, was pronounced dead at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, a spokesman the Cook County Medical Examiner said.
“We are investigating death by abuse against both parents,” DCFS spokesman Kendall Marlowe said.
The department has had prior contact with Johnson’s family. Eight other children were taken from the home and placed in protective custody, Marlowe said.
Crete police said DCFS was handling the investigation and had no further comment Sunday night. An autopsy is scheduled
•MARGARITA BUNUELOS, a female bartenderr is dead. Chicago police are looking for whoever fired shots outside Alfred's Bar in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood, killing the 38-year-old Bunuelos and wounding a male bar patron Saturday night.
The Cook County Medical Examiner identified Bunuelos. The name of the other victim has not yet been revealed.
Lawmen say someone fired shots outside the bar in the 800 block of north Ashland Avenue. The bullets may have come through a window.
Investigators say the two were "definitely not" the target of the shooter.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating. Police have no clues and no suspects. •KIMBERLY FOUCHER is dead after being beaten and strangled in a domestic-related incident in the Back-of-the-Yards neighborhood Sunday evening.
Police were notified of a domestic-related homicide at 5120 S. Damen Ave. about 6 p.m., police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor said. Police have someone in custody for the slaying Sunday night, Taylor said.
Foucher, 40, of 13940 S. Wentworth Ave. in Riverdale was apparently beaten and strangled to death at the Damen Avenue address, the Cook County Medical Examiner said.
Further details on the slaying were not available. An autopsy is scheduled.
•TWO VICTIMS were shot Sunday night in the Pullman neighborhood.
Just after 7 p.m., a person standing in the street at opened fire at a man and a woman near 60 W. 116th St., police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
The man was struck and is in Roseland Community Hospital in "stable" condition, Mirabelli said. A woman who was shot is in Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, also in "stable" condition.
Nobody is in custody for the shootings. Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
•BRANDON SNYPE, 26, of 311 W. 105th St., was shot multiple times at 10510 S. Wentworth Ave., the Cook County Medical Examiner said. Police think he may have known his killer.
He was standing near a porch in front of a home at the Wentworth Avenue address about 6:20 a.m. when someone emerged from a nearby gangway and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, Mirabelli said.
Nobody else was injured in the shooting. Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
•BENNIE ROSS, 18, is dead another man shot in a drive-by early Sunday in the West Englewood neighborhood, at 5614 S. Winchester Ave.,
The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m, according to police News Affairs Officer John Henry.
The men were outside when someone inside a vehicle shot them, according to Wentworth Area detectives.
The other victim – whose name has not yet been revealed -- has a gunshot wound to the arm and is in Holy Cross Hospital in “stable” condition. Ross was unresponsive on the scene, according to Henry.
Ross, of 5818 S. Honore St., was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner. He was shot at according to the medical examiner's office. Ross was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 1:08 a.m.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating. •NICOLE MEDINA is dead, shot on Saturday at an unknown location.
Medina, 20, of 4154 W. 44th Pl., died Sunday evening at Mount Sinai Hospital, the Cook County Medical Examiner said.
The medical examiner is working with police to determine the location of the shootin. An autopsy is scheduled. No further details are available
•MARTEZ LOCKETT, 19, was found shot to death on a sidewalk in Chicago Saturday night.
About 10 p.m., Lockett was on the sidewalk in front of 484 W. Hickory St., according to a Chicago Heights police sergeant. He had been shot once in the back of the head, the sergeant said.
Lockett, of 1946 E. Lawrence St., was taken to Saint James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, where he was pronounced dead at 10:34 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
While police have talked to several witnesses, the sergeant said, they have no suspects. Chicago Heights police are being assisted in the investigation by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. •A MOTHER apparently gave her an abortion inside a vehicle, killing the infant boy at 708 W. 103rd St. Calumet Area police are conducting a death investigation.
Police responded to the 103rd Street address about 5:15 a.m. The suspect’s name and any charges have not yet been revealed.
•STATE POLICE are investigating how an unidentified man found floating in the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal Friday morning died.
Lawmen were notified by the Sanitary and Ship Canal police that a man’s body was found in the canal about one-and-a-half miles west of 1st Avenue near Summit, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Lt. Dave Nanninga.
State police sent investigators to the scene and the body was recovered from the water, Nanninga said. The Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed the death.
“Due to the state of the body, we are not able to tell much about what happened,” Nanninga said.

• RANDY CEDENO is dead, among three men in the Hermosa neighborhood early Saturday.
The shooting happened about 2:15 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Shakespeare Avenue, according to police News Affairs. The three victims, each 20 years old, were shot in the abdomen, police said.
Cedeno was dead at the scene, according to police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti. The other two are in "stable" condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Ursitti said.
Cedeno, of 1623 S. Austin in Cicero -- is confirmed dead on the scene by the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Police had no offender information or motive Saturday morning. Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
• A MAN OPENED FIRE after being denied entry at South Side club
He shot at the club's bouncers, striking a bystander in the arm. A woman patron was also struck
He had been trying to enter a nightclub in the 7400 block of South Ingleside Avenue> he was denied entry because “he was acting weird,” so he tried the club’s back door. About 11:51 p.m. he was again told he could not enter, but instead of leaving, he pulled out a handgun and began firing shots, according to Grand Crossing District police.
One of the three shots fired struck a 26-year-old male bystander in the right arm. That man ran to the porch of his nearby home and was later taken to Jackson Park Hospital in “stable” condition. He is scheduled to be transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.
No one is in custody for the shooting. Police say they know who they are looking for. The alleged shooter, whose name is not being released, is a 27-year-old man and was witnessed fleeing the scene in the driver’s seat of a 2000 or 2002 gold Lincoln Towncar.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
• A MAN was critically wounded in a shooting Saturday afternoon on the Southwest Side.
The shooting happened about 12:49 p.m. in the 4900 block of West 44th Place, according to police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti, who said a man was shot in the leg.
The cictim is in Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious to ritical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado. Police have no offender information or motive Saturday afternoon.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
• ANOTHER MAN was shot Saturday afternoon at a gas station in the Lawndale neighborhood.
Police responded to a shooting in the 4900 block of West Harrison Street about 1:23 p.m., according to police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.
Ursitti said the victim is in Loretto Hospital.
The shooting happened on the property of the Harrison Marathon gas station at 4751 W. Harrison St., according to a Marathon employee. Unconfirmed dispatch reports indicate the offender ran down an alley following the shooting, screaming that he had a gun.
Police have no offender information or motive. Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
