ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (STNG) -- Four women and two men were arrested Thursday in connection with an alleged prostitution ring at a northwest suburban tanning salon, where police said there was not a lot of tanning going on.
Police received information about prostitution activity at the Singapore Salon, 308 E. Golf Rd. in the International Plaza in Arlington Heights, according to a release from Arlington Heights police. An appointment was made by an undercover officer for a massage to determine if illegal activities were taking place.
On Thursday evening, the undercover officer was brought into a back room where he was immediately solicited for a sexual act, the release said. While in the salon, he also observed several other patrons in various stages of undress.
Twelve people were taken into custody and questioned about their activities on the premises. After receiving statements, six were released without charges and six were arrested about 6 p.m. Thursday, according to Arlington Heights police Cmdr. Kenneth Galinski.
Arrested for prostitution were: Min Soon Rockwood, 46, of Duluth, Ga.; Christina Yu, 41, of 429 E. Seegers Ave. in Arlington Heights; and Se Hi Park, 39, of 2125 S. Tonne Dr. in Arlington Heights, the release said.
Kil Sun Fara, 60, of 1020 E. Lilac Ln. in Palatine was charged with keeping a place of prostitution, and Matthew H. Mitchell, 35, of 2252 W. Berwyn Ave. in Chicago was charged with patronizing a prostitute. Christian R. Falster, 32, of 314 Glenwood Ave. in McHenry, was charged with soliciting a prostitute, the release said
In addition to the arrests, approximately $4,000 was seized from alleged prostitution activities.
All six were released on $1,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear July 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse, the release said.
Galinski said the salon’s business license was pulled, but a hearing could allow the business, which did have a couple of tanning beds, to reopen.
