LAKE COUNTY (STNG) -- Lake County has now been declared a federal disaster area by President George Bush.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has designated Lake County for the Individual Assistance Program that provides federal funds for loans and grants to businesses and residents affected by recent flooding.
The preliminary flood damage assessment found 408 structures affected by the water on the Fox River and Chain O'Lakes.
There were 103 structures, or about 25%, that sustained minor or more significant damage to the structure and 305 structures had water up to or in the crawlspace or affecting the well and/or septic system, or water affecting accessory structures.
Flood victims can call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) to apply for assistance or visit www.fema.gov/assistance.
