UPDATE: Weekend Violence, Vicitm With Throat Slashed Identified



CHICAGO -- George Ramirez, of 4831 W. 119th St.,  Alsip, has been identified as the vicitm found with his throat slashed near Midway Airport.
Ramriez was discovered Friday when police responded to a call about a person down in the 6100 block of South Menard Avenue, about 11:05 p.m.

An autopsy Saturday revealed had multiple stab and incised wounds, the medical examiner said. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating. They have no suspects.

JASEEM RAZIK was fatally shot during a robbery attempt on the South Side Friday night.

The incident happened about 7:40 p.m. at 71st Street and Vincennes Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Marcel Bright. He was shot during a robbery attempt at 7114 S. Vincennes Ave.

Razik, of 12129 S. Lavergne in Alsip, was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 10:15 p.m, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set black man, between 25 and 30 years old, who was wearing a blue T-shirt and dark jeans, as well as a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap, Bright said.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating. No one is in custody.

KEENAN RENO, 19, died Saturday afternoon after a gun that he and his friends were examining discharged, striking him in the head in his South Side home.

Reno, of 11221 S. Emerald Ave., was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner said.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide, News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said, as the circumstances that led to the shooting are not known.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. No one is in custody.

JESUS DELAROSA, 37, was fatally shot in his backyard early Saturday on the West Side.

Police responded to reports of a person shot in the 4000 block of West Hirsch Street about 5:24 a.m. Saturday, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Officers foundDelarosa fatally shot in the backyard of a residence at the Hirsch address and he was likely dead upon their arrival, Mirabelli said. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:05 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed. He had a gunshot wound to the chest.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating the homicide. No one is in custody.

A TEEN WAS SHOT Saturday night near a park in the South Chicago neighborhood.

A 13-year-old boy was shot and another boy was injured as he tried to get away from the gunfire in the 2900 block of East 83rd Street, South Chicago District Cpt. Terry McMahon said.

A teen is in University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. The other boy has cuts after falling on the pavement as he tried to get out of the way of the gunfire. He was taken to South Shore Hospital with minor injuries, McMahon said.

The boys were shot at near Russell Square Park, Roccasalva said. Calumet Area detectives are investigating. No one is in custody.

SHOT IN THE HEAD: A 31-year-old man is hospitlaized after he was hit in the head with a bottle, then shot, following an argument on the South Side early Saturday. The man is in "serious condition" in John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. 
An argument between the victim and his shooter prompted the shooting in the 7100 block of South Michigan Avenue about 2:40 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. Initial reports indicated the man was shot in the head, but investigators subsequently found he was first hit in the head with a bottle, then shot, following the argument.

The shooter, believed to be between 20 to 30 years old, ran off, Calumet Area detectives are investigating. No one is in custody.
TWO TEENS are charged after fight led to a stabbing of a third teen in South Elgin. A fight early Saturday morning allegedly led to the stabbing.

At 12:17 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Martin Drive after reports of a fight and saw several people running from the scene. Officers later found a 19-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. The man is in Sherman Hospital in Elgin in "serious" condition, according to South Elgin police.

Francisco Jaimes, 18, of 574 Barrett St., Elgin, is identified as the stabber by witnesses and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed violence, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery in a public way, unlawful use of a weapon and mob action.

A second person, Hakeim Johnson, 17, of 108 S. Channing St., Elgin, was allegedly involved in the fight and is charged with mob action and battery.

Both teens are scheduled in bond court in Kane County today.
BYRON COLE, 22, on parole, was found fatally shot in the middle of the street on the South Side early Friday.

Cole, of 12747 S. LaCrosse Ave., in Alsip was pronounced dead at 2:12 a.m. at Advocate Trinity Hospital, according to  the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Police officers responded to a call of a “man down” at 1:50 a.m. and found Cole in the street at 9132 S. Drexel Ave., shot once in the back, according to a Calumet Area police sergeant.

There are only a couple of witnesses that police have located but detectives are searching the area for more, according to the sergeant, who said he did not know whether Cole was robbed or what he was doing when he was shot.

At least one of the witnesses looked out a window and saw his fully clothed body, according to the sergeant. There have been no recent shootings in the same area, which is residential, according to a South Chicago District police officer.

Cole had a wallet on him when his body was found “in the middle of the street,’’ according to the officer.

In Sep. 2006, Cole was released on parole after being sentenced to eight years in prison for selling drugs near a school or park. He was scheduled to be discharged from parole in Sep. 2008, according to Illinois Department of Corrections online inmate records.

No one is in custody. Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
