Chicago's First Ever Gourmet Festival - Learn More Here
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The Illinois Restaurant Association announces plans for the first ever "Chicago Gourmet" a festival celebrating the finest in foods and wine from Chicago and beyond. It will take place in Millennium Park from September 26-28, 2008.
Mayor Daley says the fest is an effort to promote Chicago's place as a world class city....and in the process, help in the city's bid for the 2016 Olympics. "We are attempting to demonstrate to the world that Chicagoans are welcoming people and that Chicago is a great destination for business, recreation and food and wine. And nothing does it better than the friends of ours at the wonderful tables here in Chicago."
About 30 of Chicago's most respected chefs will hold cooking demonstrations demonstrate and offer samples of what they whip up. More than 150 premium wineries from around the world will discuss and share wine.
But the gourmet food fest is not for those on a tight budget. General admission to Chicago Gourmet is $150 per day or $250 for a two day weekend pass. If you buy your tickets before June 30th, a one day ticket will cost $130.
General admission to Chicago Gourmet includes food tasting, cooking demonstrations and wine tasting.
General admission does not include additional events including an Opening Night Gala, a Family Pavilion, and a series of individual seminars about gourmet food and wine.
