Three Injured in Glenview Crash

GLENVIEW, Ill. (STNG)  -- Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon when a semi truck rear-ended another vehicle and pushed it into oncoming traffic in north suburban Glenview.

A southbound 2008 Toyota Camry was waiting to turn left into a restaurant parking lot at 9860 Milwaukee Ave. just before 1 p.m. Tuesday when it was rear-ended by a 2000 Mack semi. The collision sent the Camry into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a northbound 1996 GMC Jimmy, according to Glenview police traffic Sgt. Terry Urbanowski.

The three passengers in the Camry, a man and woman in their 30s and the woman’s father in his early 60s, were all injured and transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Emergency crews had to cut open the vehicle to rescue the passenger in the back seat.  None of their injuries appeared to be life-threatening, Urbanowski said.

The drivers of the semi and Jimmy were the only occupants in their vehicles and were not injured.

The semi driver was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Urbanowski said.
