UPDATE: Woman Missing from O'Hare Phones Home

CHICAGO -- A woman reported missing after arriving on flight at O'Hard International Airport more than a week ago contacted her family Wednesday, Chicago police said. No further details were provided, including where she has been or whom she has been with since she went missing.

The case had begin to garner national interest, with reports on the popular Fox Network TV show On The Record. Sharon Romenesko, Hu's sister-in-law, told the Chicago Tribune that Hu called the family and told them she's in the Chicago area and is safe.

Chicago police spokesman JoAnn Taylor declined to say where Sumei Hu has been. But she says the woman is no longer considered a missing person.

Hu, 38, who lives in Sheboygan, Wis., was reported missing on Feb. 26 after returning from a long visit with her family in China. Hu's husband, Steven Frasch, waited for her in the international terminal for more than an hour after her plane landed, but he never met up with her. Her baggage was claimed.

Video footage showed Hu arriving at O'Hare on an American Airlines flight from Tokyo—the last leg of a trip from her hometown of Guangzhou, China—and checking in at customs.
