You can FEEL GOOD about your donation to the Chicago Anti-Hunger Federation -- 88 percent of funds are used for food purchase for programs such as Oliver's Kitchen, a program that trains the homeless, welfare-to-work participants, the underemployed and unemployed for lifetime careers in the food service industry. CAHF distributes food to emergency feeding facilities, soup kitchens, pantries and shelters. Only 12 percent of the donated money is allocated for administration of the Anti-Hunger Federation.
CAHF's mission is to secure the best and most nutritious products for our agencies and their clients. It's easy for those of us who have resources -- a job, a paycheck and a home -- to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. But for those who are in need, high quality, grade A produce is prohibitively expensive.
A BIG thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with Newsradio 780's Pat Cassidy during the 19-hour live event, broadcast from Nordstrom Michigan Avenue in the Westfield North Bridge mall.
