CHICAGO (WBBM) - A group of people who want to see the Marshall Field's name return to Chicago are not losing hope.
WBBM’s Jennifer O’Neill reports.
A group of about 20 people rallied for about an hour-and-a-half Sunday afternoon in front of Macy's on State Street, where they urged people to boycott the store and called on Macy's to change the store's name back to Field’s.
FieldsFansChicago.org, which is a grassroots effort, has held four other protests since the takeover by New York-based more than a year ago.
Co-organizer Jim McKay says they held the rally Sunday because holiday shoppers are out and because the Chicago Bears are playing the New York Giants at Soldier Field.
McKay says Chicago sports teams have had their ups and downs but Marshall Field's has been a winner for 150 years.
He says even though Macy's says a name change can't happen, the Field’s Fans are not losing hope.
If AT&T could change to Cingular and then back to AT&T again - then he questions why Marshall Field's can't too.
The group claims its boycott of Macy's is working because there's been a significant decline in sales at their Chicago area stores.
