Cops Seek Car "Possibly" Used In U. of C. Student's Murder

CHICAGO (WBBM)  -- Police located a car that matches the description of the possible getaway vehicle used in a "series of crimes" that occurred near or on the University of Chicago campus -- including the fatal shooting of a PhD student.

WBBM'S Steve Miller reports.

Police located a vehicle on the street at 2421 W. 102nd St. in the West Beverly neighborhood about 11 a.m. Wednesday, News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.

Police say a man with a gun walked up to Amadou Cisse, 28, about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, as Cisse was about a building away from his own apartment in Hyde Park. Police say Cisse was shot in the chest and died.

Police were looking for the silver/light gray or white sedan with red or orange driver's side doors ( pictured above).

Area 2 Police Detective W. Golub says Cisse's wallet was not taken, and it's not clear what the motive was. Detective Golub says someone saw a "dark vehicle" near the scene, in the 6100 block of South Ellis.

In addition to the murder of Cisse there were two other incidents on or near the campus overnight and this vehicle may have be connected to those crimes as well.

At 12:33 a.m. Monday at 6045 S. Woodlawn Ave., A university instructor reportedly was chased by a man who fired at least one shot at him. At 1:15 a.m., two women were robbed at 924 E. 57th St. by an individual who said he had a weapon.

The university is also offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the the gunman who shot and killed  Cisse.

Police ask that If you see and or  recognize this vehicle call 911 immediately or call 312-747-8272 to speak with Calumet Area police.
