Woman impersonates cop to threaten son's antagonist

CHICAGO (STNG) -- The mother of a Mount Carmel High School student was arrested Thursday for allegedly impersonating a police officer and threatening her son's 15-year-old classmate after the boys engaged in a verbal altercation.
Valerie Booker, 38, of the 8800 block of South Loomis Street, was charged Thursday with false impersonation of a peace officer, a felony, as well as an name use, a misdemeanor, according to police News Affairs Officer Joann Taylor.
She allegedly threatened a 15-year-old male classmate of her son, telling him and Chicago Police that she was a police officer, Taylor said.
Following a Wednesday verbal altercation between her son and the 15-year-old boy, Booker allegedly told the boy to leave her son alone, threatening him by saying, "I'm the police," about 3 p.m. at the school at 6410 S. Dante Ave., Taylor said.
A female guardian of the boy filed a police report Thursday morning. Officers reported to the school and arrested Booker -- who may have been there to pick up her son -- at 3 p.m., Taylor said.
After being taken into custody, Booker told police she was an officer, but further investigation revealed she was not, Taylor said.
Booker was scheduled for a bond hearing Friday, according to Taylor.
