OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
1. HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST:
1. The WBBM “Smart Quiz” Contest (the “Contest”) will run once per hour on weekday mornings (Monday through Friday) from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) beginning April 2nd, 2009 until Friday, December 25th, 2009 (the “Contest Period”).
2. To participate in the Contest, contestants must listen to WBBM(AM) each weekday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. CT for the WBBM on-air personality to ask an interesting or timely trivia question and then invite listeners to call in with the correct answer (the “cue to call”). Once the cue to call is announced the seventh (7th) caller to get through to the WBBM Contest line at (866)780-QUIZ will have a chance to give the correct answer. The seventh (7th) caller that answers the question correctly will win the prize offered for that hour. If the caller answers the question incorrectly the prize will not be awarded. At the time of their call all potential winners must provide their first and last name, complete address including city, state, and zip code, telephone number and date of birth.
3. On occasion, WBBM at its sole discretion, reserves the right to offer a “Bonus” prize. Each person who answers the smart quiz correctly from that week will be selected at random to win an additional “Bonus” prize. If it’s a daily bonus prize, each person who answers the smart quiz correctly from that “day” will be selected at random to win the additional “bonus” prize.
4. WBBM is not responsible for telephone service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties that may prevent an individual from completing his/her telephone call.
5. There is no limit to the number of times a listener may attempt to call in to win but a listener may qualify to win only once during this Contest.
2. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS:
1. The Contest is open to all WBBM listeners who are 18 years of age or older who reside in the states of Illinois, Indiana or Wisconsin. Employees, of WBBM, its licensee, CBS Radio East Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates, its advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, (collectively known as the “Sponsors”) other radio stations in the Chicago metropolitan area and the members of their immediate families and household members are ineligible to participate or win. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
2. Listeners are eligible to win a WBBM Contest only once every sixty (60) days and a prize valued over six hundred dollars ($600) only once every six months. Only one (1) winner per household is permitted in any Contest.
3. Winner will be required to sign a liability and publicity release and show a valid government- issued photo identification card to claim prize.
3. PRIZES:
a. Up to 20 Smart Quiz Prizes will be awarded each week. Prizes vary from week to week but will be an Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of $200.
b. WBBM reserves the right to award “Bonus” prizes. “Bonus” Prizes have a minimum ARV of $200.
c. All prizes or prize certificates will be sent to winner via US Mail or other delivery service within forty-five (45) days of winning. WBBM is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.
d. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that Sponsor may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply.
4. SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS
a. Decisions of WBBM management with respect to the Contest are final.
b. Winners will be selected in accordance to Section 1.
c. When a “Bonus” prize is offered, one (1) winner will be selected at random from all eligible smart quiz prize winners for that day or week, depending on if it’s a DAILY bonus prize or a WEEKLY bonus prize. “Bonus” prize winners will be notified via telephone and/or email within one (1) week from the time of the selection. If a potential winner is not reachable or found to be ineligible within forty eight (48) hours of notification attempt, another qualifying winner will be selected at random by WBBM/sponsor management from all remaining eligible smart quiz prize winners for that day or week. If a Bonus Prize cannot be awarded in a given week, it will be unawarded.
4. Odds of winning depend, in part on the number and order of calls received.
5. Winner of Smart Quiz Prize needs to listen but must not be present to win.
e. Winner of Bonus Prize does not need to listen nor be present to win.
f. Winners must execute and return any required Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability Prize Acceptance Form within seven (7) days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen in a random drawing of all remaining eligible smart quiz prize winners.
5. CONDITIONS:
a. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners will be required to complete and submit an IRS Form W-9 with the winner’s full Social Security Number or the equivalent for receipt of any prize valued at $600 or more or for any prizes awarded by the Station in a calendar year with an aggregate value of $600 or more. Failure to submit a complete W-9 or equivalent will result in forfeiture of the prize.
b. By participating in the Contest, the winner or winners agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this Contest, without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.
c. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, WBBM in its sole discretion may require Contest winners to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold WBBM, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents, and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the Contest.
d. WBBM, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. It further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including tampering, unauthorized intervention or logistical failures of any sort.
e. WBBM reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the Contest including the substitution of a prize of equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement. WBBM reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel or modify the Contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.
f. Failure to comply with the Contest rules may result in a Contestant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of WBBM.
g. WBBM is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the Contest or in the announcement of the prize.
8. Copies of the written Contest rules and a list of all winners (when complete) are available during regular business hours at the main studio of WBBM, Two Prudential Plaza, Suite 1100, Chicago, IL, 60601, or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to WBBM.
