Update: CTA Worker Seriously Injured After Touching Third Rail
CHICAGO (STNG) -- A CTA worker was seriously injured after apparently coming into contact with the third rail while working on the tracks near a North Side CTA station Thursday morning.
The worker was flagging near Belmont and Sheffield avenues when she may have made contact with the third rail, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.
About 10:55 a.m., power was removed from the tracks, affecting service at the Fullerton, Diversey and Belmont stations, Hosinski said. A bus shuttle was temporarily put into place.
One person was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious to critical condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.
The worker was talking and conscious when she was removed from the scene, Hosinski said.
Power was restored to the tracks about 11:25 a.m., Hosinski said, who did not information on possible train delays.
