UPDATE: New Judge For Accused Dog Killer

JOLIET--A new judge will preside over a case involving Timothy Wallisch, accused of killing his dog and burying it in an alley.
On May 9, Will County Judge Richard Schoenstedt assigned  Wallisch's case to Judge Robert Livas' courtroom.  Wallisch's lawyer asked for a different judge. Schoenstedt then gave the case to Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak.

Wallisch, 29, of 310 S. Hebbard St., works as a carpenter. He was arrested in June and charged with one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals and cruel treatment of animals, a misdemeanor. He has been accused of throwing the dog, a pit bull named Buster, over a fence. Neighbors apparently complained about Wallisch's alleged cruel treatment of the dog.

The animal's bloody, badly beaten body was later found in a shallow grave in the alley between Hebbard and Siegmund streets.

When a Plainfield veterinarian examined the animal's body, he found skull fractures, brain damage and shredded plastic inside the stomach.

Animal cruelty cases often are assigned to Livas. In November, he sentenced Donald and Katherine Hudgins to two years in prison for running a dog fighting ring at their home near University Park.

Wallisch will return to court at 9:30 a.m. June 13.
