Two dead, two injured in I-57 motorcycle crash

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. (STNG) -- Part of I-57 near south suburban Country Club Hills was closed at least six hours overnight, following a Saturday night four-motorcycle crash the claimed the lives of two men and sent two women who were riding on the bikes to an area hospital.
The crash happened about 8:48 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 57 just north of the Interstate 80 interchange, according to Illinois State Police.
The first motorcyclist was southbound on I-57 around 185th Street when he entered a turnaround to go north, Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Todd Borisy said. As he was pulling out of the turnaround to go into the northbound lanes, a group of motorcycles was headed north as well, and three of those motorcycles crashed into him.
Two of the motorcyclists in that group were killed in the crash, State Police said. The deceased were 47-year-old Michael Adams, of Kankakee and 34-year-old Sean Drake, of Chicago, according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Adams, of 260 Longwood Ave. in Kankakee, was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m. at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest and Drake, of 9104 S. Luella Ave., was pronounced dead at South Suburban at 11:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
The man on the first motorcycle was not one of the two killed, Borisy said. Two female passengers were injured and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Borisy said. Their conditions were not known, but a helicopter was brought to the scene.
No cars or trucks were involved in the crash.
Aaron Brown, 28, of Olympia Fields was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid cars and for disregarding a traffic sign, according to ISP District Chicago Trooper Dan Garcia, who said Brown disregarded a no U-turn sign.
He said charges for Brown were pending Sunday morning.
All lanes of traffic were closed for at least an hour, but southbound lanes were reopened by 10:45 p.m. Northbound lanes were closed until at least 2:45 a.m. as investigators processed the scene and conducted measurements, Borisy said.
