Suit: Bodybuilder spied on by gym employee in tanning booth
|
CHICAGO (STNG) - A female bodybuilder claims an XSport Fitness employee spied on her while she was disrobing in the tanning room of a Northwest Side gym.
Amalia Reyes filed an invasion of privacy lawsuit Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court against XSport Fitness, Inc. and the alleged Peeping Tom, Stoil Stove. The woman is also claiming infliction of emotional distress.
According to the suit, Reyes was inside a private tanning room of the XSport Fitness, 6420 W. Fullerton Ave., on Oct. 20, 2008 when Stoil spied on her through an opening in the ceiling of the room. The suit said Stoil, who was the head engineer at the fitness club, gained access to the ceiling through an adjacent private office to the tanning room by using a ladder to reach the ceiling.
At the time of the incident, Reyes was a competitive bodybuilder working out 25 hours a week and tanning every day, the suit said. She has placed second in two bodybuilding competitions, the suit said.
The result of being spied on has affected her psychologically and physically, leading her to decreased levels of performance in bodybuilding competitions and not allowing her to maintain her previous workout and regime schedule.
The suit seeks more than $30,000 in damages.
