Stock Picks 6-20-08

United Technologies: UTX    $69

A great way to take advantage of the continued correction in the market is to take a look at adding a solid Blue Chip that may have been overlooked over the last few years. United Technologies is trading near a 2 year low with an attractive 13 PE and a range of worldwide businesses such as Otis elevators, Carrier air conditioning, Sikorsky helicopters and Pratt & Whitney.  Its combined dividend and share repurchase yield of nearly 5% provides an excellent long term cushion for an improvement in sentiment.

Boston Properties: BXP        $97

Boston Properties is another way that I am taking advantage of the low market to get into hard assets at good levels: in this case signature skyscrapers in Manhattan, some of the most prized real estate in the world. Again there is a good dividend to collect and the confidence of the large personal stakes of co-founders Mort Zuckerman and Ed Linde. BXP recently pulled off the historic purchase of the GM building from distressed developer Harry Macklowe, in a clear case of strong hands making a superb acquisition in a buyers market.
