Stacy Peterson's Minister Testifies Before Grand Jury
BOLINGBROOK -- A minister -- who previously said Stacy Peterson confided in him about her husband killing his third wife -- appeared before a grand jury Thursday.
Neil Schori was a minister at Westbrook Christian Church in Bolingbrook, when Stacy supposedly told him about her husband, Drew Peterson, coming clean about killing Kathleen Savio.
Peterson has accused his missing wife of wanting more than just spiritual guidance from Schori and said she had a "big crush" on the minister.
"Every time she went to see him, she was all dolled up, all sexied up," he said in December.
Schori declined to comment on what he discussed with the grand jury. In December, Schori said Stacy made her shocking revelation during a meeting between the two of them in a Bolingbrook coffee shop.
Schori said Stacy blurted out the accusation in August. She was last seen alive about two months later.
State police consider the investigation of Stacy's disappearance a "potential homicide" case and have named her husband as their only suspect.
Schori no longer works at the Bolingbrook church. He is now with the Naperville Christian Church.
Savio, the wife Schori said Stacy told him about, was found dead in her waterless bathtub in March 2004.
A coroner's jury ruled her death an accidental drowning after hearing testimony from state police Special Agent Herbert Hardy, who said investigators found no signs of foul play.
After Stacy disappeared, Savio's body was exhumed and additional postmortem testing was performed. Forensic pathologist Larry Blum, who performed the subsequent autopsy on Savio's remains, determined she was the victim of a homicide.
Blum also is waiting to testify before the grand jury, three sources said. Two of the sources are a husband and wife recently seen in Peterson's company.
The couple assisted him in retrieving his vehicles from the state police last week after a judge ordered them to be returned, and they watched the Peterson children when Peterson went to New York to appear on the "Today" show.
The couple have declined to identify themselves other than to say they are friends of Peterson.
They said they were called to the grand jury but -- soon after arriving -- were told they would not be testifying.
