Sept. 17: Injuries, Injuries

PAIN IN THE SECONDARY
Injuries ravage safeties in the NFL. It happens every season. It has under Lovie Smith since 2004. Look at the list: Brandon McGowan (3x), Mike Brown (4x), Kevin Payne, and former Bears Cameron Worrell, Todd Johnson, Bobby Gray, and Mike Green. They have all been injured and they have all finished Bears seasons on injured reserve.

In two weeks of the regular season, names like Bob Sanders (Colts), Roy Williams (Cowboys), Sean Jones (Browns), Madieu Williams (Vikings), Gerald Alexander (Lions), Aaron Glenn (Saints), Dexter Jackson (Bengals), Herana-Daze Jones (Bengals), Atari Bigby (Packers), are all injured.  Michael Boulware (Vikings), Tank Williams (Patriots), Cameron Worrell (Packers), Steve Gleason (Saints), and Brandon McGowan (Bears) are all out for the season.  It is amazing.

HESTER INJURY
A left ribcage injury kept Pro Bowl return man Devin Hester from practicing Wednesday, but he thinks he can play Sunday against the Bucs. He may not be able to practice all week. Nothing has broken which is the good news. If he does not play, look for Danieal Manning to handle kickoff returns, and either Nathan Vasher or rookie Earl Bennett to handle punts.
