CHICAGO (WBBM) - A new thrill is planned for the Skydeck at Sears Tower. 103 stories up, ledges are to be built with clear floors so you can look straight down.
Admittedly, it won’t be for everyone, at least those with fear of heights.
Those who’ve ever pressed their noses against the window trying to eyeball the street below now will have four ledges to step onto that extend about 4 and one-third feet beyond the edge of the building.
They’ll all be on the west side of the Sears Tower, which receives its name change this summer to Willis Tower.
The ledges were inspired by similar transparent walkways over the Grand Canyon and Toronto’s CN Tower.
There will not be an extra charge to walk The Ledge, although the price to go up to the Skydeck does go up a buck starting today to $14.95 for ages 12 and up and $10.50 for children 3 to 11.
