CHICAGO (WBBM) -- If you were hoping for a little snow this Christmas week, here it is.
At 11:45 p.m. Monday, the city deployed 175 snow-fighting trucks to the main roads and Lake Shore Drive, according to a release from the city’s Department of Streets & Sanitation.
The WBBM AccuWeather forecast calls for snow tapering to flurries today with a total accumulation 2-3 inches. Watch for roads to be slippery through the morning commute. Today's high: 34.
Tomorrow, look for a bit of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain, especially in the afternoon, changing to rain at night.
On Christmas Eve day, expect rain.
And on Christmas Day, the AccuWeather forecast calls for mixed precipitation changing to snow or flurries.
The Department of Aviation was not reporting any flight delays or cancellations early Tuesday.
Temperatures this morning were just below freezing which can make roadways slick.
Trucks will concentrate on keeping our main routes and Lake Shore Drive up and running during the duration of the snow. Only once snow has let up will, trucks be able to finish off the main routes and then look to the side streets for additional duty.
