Same Man Suspected In 3 Bucktown Sexual Assaults

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Chicago Police have issued a community alert for the Bucktown area, after a man armed with a knife sexually assaulted a woman early Wednesday as she left a CTA 'L' station and was headed home. The offender in that assault matches the description of a man suspected in two previous sexual assaults in the neighborhood.

About 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the man sexually assaulted a woman on the 2100 block of North Maplewood Avenue, shortly after she had exited the Blue Line 'L' Station located at Western, Milwaukee and Armitage avenues and was walking home.

This man may have also been involved in a sexual assault that occurred on the 2300 block of West Moffat Street on February 5 and a sexual assault that occurred on the 1700 block of North Marshfield Avenue on September 26, 2008, police said.

The offender in all three incidents is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, 180 to 200 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, a medium to dark complexion and a goatee. The man was armed with a knife, as well, police said. In the most recent incident the offender was wearing an oversized dark jacket of an unknown color.
